My Journey Through the Qur'an

Bismillah.

"and Allah is over all things competent." (Qur'an, 02:284)
I have come across this phrase in the Qur'an several times before but I never realised the essence of what it says till now. Do we truly accept and believe that Allah has power over all things, and that He has a right to do so because He is the Owner and Sustainer of all His creation?

While I have accepted His decisions for my life, and believe that there will always be some things that I will never fully understand since my knowledge is not even a drop in the ocean, then why is it that ever since I understood this part in detail, it shakes my heart every time I read it in the Qur'an?

This section is dedicated to my journey through the Qur'an as I study it with word to word translation and its detailed explanation in the light of the authentic narrations of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) on whom Allah (SWT) revealed this Miracle - the Qur'an.

Ever since I started studying the Qur'an, the one thought that keeps me humble is that had this Book been revealed on the mountains, they would have broken to pieces (Qur'an, 59:21), yet Allah chose us to carry this burden. Out of all the people in this world, out of all the Muslims in them, he chose (insignificant) me amongst the few to study His Words and He blessed me with the opportunity to complete Surah Al Baqarah with its explanation, not just once but thrice, Alhamdulillahi Katheera. Now, every time I think how it became possible, I realise that He is Competent over ALL things. It wouldn't have been possible if HE hadn't willed it and made it possible for me. It is because HE has knowledge of what is in the deepest recesses of our hearts and He listens even when we don't speak what our hearts desire. No one in this world knew how badly I longed to fill this void in my heart for the past few years but HE did and HE gave me a chance.

They said, "Exalted are You; we have no knowledge except what You have taught us. Indeed, it is You who is the Knowing, the Wise." (Qur'an, 02:32)
May He make it easy for me, and the rest of my classmates, to complete the Qur'an with ease. May He make it easy for us to understand, make it a part of our lives and pass this beautiful Message to the rest of the world. May His Book be a constant companion in our lives and on the Day when there will be no companions.

Ameen.
